Our Story
Varsity Prep USA began in 2018 as a small wrestling camp and quickly grew to include a range of individual sports. Over the years, it evolved into a trusted summer camp program that has welcomed more than 600 families from New Milford and surrounding towns. Even through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Varsity Prep continued to adapt and thrive, always committed to creating high-quality, memorable experiences for children.
Today, Varsity Prep offers a dynamic summer camp at the New Milford Swim Club, featuring a variety of sports and activities designed to engage and inspire kids of all ages. Looking ahead, we are expanding into a year-round youth development organization, with programs that meet the needs and interests of every child we serve.
Founded by New Milford High School graduate, educator, and championship-winning coach Ray Cottiers, Varsity Prep is built on a foundation of community, leadership, and a passion for helping young people grow — on and off the field.
Meet the Founder
Varsity Prep USA began in 2018 as a single summer wrestling camp founded by Ray Cottiers — a proud New Milford High School graduate (Class of 2004), lifelong educator, and championship-winning coach. What started as one camp has grown into a trusted, year-round youth programming organization serving 600+ families from New Milford and surrounding communities.
Ray taught in the New Milford School District from 2011–2020 (DEO Middle School) and again from 2022–2025 (currently At NMHS), earning the title of 2025 New Milford Public School District Teacher of the Year. In athletics, he has been recognized as:
